About Diane Ferguson
Drawing has always come naturally to me, but it was never more than a fun pasttime. Then, at about age 40, I took a college art class. As the teacher watched us do an assignment in our sketchbooks, he asked me if I was an artist. Who me?!! No, I said, I just like to draw! But if a college professor, who was also a working artist, could see my work and think that I was an artist, then maybe I could be “an artist.” This was the start of a new journey…
Over the next few years, I took some pastel classes and attended some workshops. I’d like to say that I entered art shows and won many awards, boosting my career, but that’s not what happened. Creativity always had to compete with real life, and too often, real life won! But that’s okay. Real life has had its challenges, but it has been good. I live with my husband, Ken, and our two miniature schnauzers. I have a beautiful daughter and an adorable grandson, and I love spending time with both of them. I am a member of the choir at my church, and I also play guitar and sing with the contemporary music group there. And I work full time. It is a busy life, but through it all, my art journey continues…
I often like to take pictures as reference for future painting projects. After I got a computer that had good photo editing capabilities, I found that many of these photos could be considered art in and of themselves. Some of these photos will be the first images that I will upload to this website. Soon I will upload images of some of my pastel paintings, so I hope you will come back to see those. There is plenty more to come!
Thank you for visiting my Art Room!
